Re: Not A but Choo Choo pic
Cool. When I was a kid in NJ, there was this guys who has an old airfield turned into a junk yard-trains, old cars, blimp gondolas. He was pretty eccentric, had lots of fights with the state, ultimately lived in a teepee to beat zoning regs-and eventually the state drove him out. Never heard what happened to all that cool stuff.

Re: Not A but Choo Choo pic
5window,
The guy lived on Route 206. I passed his place manytimes. Yes, unless you knew him, he would greet you with a gun. I have a friend who could get in to his collection. Some years back the collection went up for auction onsite. The Smithsonian was there to buy the gondolas. The 35 Chev convert went for about $75 I think. Many of the cars had been used a storage containers for small stuff. The word got out that his lady had stored her diamonds in one of the cars. This helped prices. I could not attend. There was big trouble with the local police as customers were buying a vehicle loading it on their trailer outside the yard and then removing the junk that was in the vehicle unto the side of the road. For instance one car was full of wet military overseas caps. Whatta mess. clem |

Re: Not A but Choo Choo pic
Mahalchick. He ran for...Governor? President? maybe in the '70's, got on the ballot and got some press. Was eventually found mysteriously dead.
The little yard was a real traffic stopper, lots of really cool scrap and the fence covered with the guy's angry posters denouncing local authorities. He was in an ongoing war over zoning, I think, and accused the gov of poioning his horses...he had the skulls out there very conspicuously. |
