Default Rear Subframe for Cabriolet

I am considering replacing the rear subframe cross member on my 1930 Cabriolet. (The steel channel structure below the outer panel that ties the wood sills together at the rear of the car)

Does anyone know if this part is being reproduced for the Cabriolet ?

If not, I am considering modifying the part that is sold by Snyders et al for the Coupes and Roadsters. This would involve separating the inner and outer pieces of the crossmember, modifying the inner one and welding the pieces back together.

Does anyone know where Snyders, Brattons etc gets these crossmembers (for the coupes and roadsters). I am considering approaching the manufacturer to see if they would sell me an unassembled crossmember, which would make for less work in modification.

no one that I know of reproduces them. if you have yours for a pattern you can modify a coupe or roadster to work.

It is not reproduced.

The outer part is basically the same as coupe. You will need to countersink the rivet holes for wood screws.

You will need to remove the inner structure and swap it in the coupe/roadster part. The part does not go as wide as the wood sills are wider. Plus the end sticks out longer for the long bolt.

Mine is a coupe outer piece with a reused cabriolet inner piece.

I bought one a couple of years ago for a 68A project, that is still that. Someone on Fordbarn had several made up and was selling his extras, you might post under parts wanted and see what response you get.

Called Brookville Roadster Today, and they were happy to supply the roadster part with the inner and outer member separate (not spot welded together) That should make the needed Cabriolet modification a breeze

I'll keep you posted on how things proceed.

Received the roadster/coupe cross member with inner and outer piece separate last week. The Brookville guys were pleasant to deal with and had no problems in sending the part unassembled.

Please post some progress pics when you get further on it. It is good to know Brookville will sell parts that way.
