Default waterless coolant

This car of mine has Evans waterless coolant in it. I just checked and the stuff costs $45 a jug. Do any of you use Evans and is it worth the price?

A friend has Evans in his hot rod. It's fine so long as you don't ever get a leak when you are out and about, because he said you cannot add water to top off your coolant. Not water compatible.

That's the thing that scares me. I've never been in a situation where I couldn't add something that was available if the coolant was low. I really don't want to have to carry a jug or two of Evans on a trip because with a rumble seat and no trunk I don't have space. And, I'm talking about almost $100 for two jugs.

It does not get my vote. Fix the car and use coolant.

same, you want to have the option if absolutely necessary to be able to fill it up from a ditch of water if need be haha.

A friend used it and supposedly ruined the head gasket. He replaced the head gasket and changed the coolant. Maybe it was coincidence with some other reason for the head gasket to leak.

I use just plain water with some rust inhibitor in the warm months. When the weather starts to turn cold I put the antifreeze back in...just an off the shelf product, like Prestone. All during the warm weather I just add water as needed (which is rare). In the winter, I don't put nearly as many miles on her, but like her to be ready to go.

I am not in favor of using Evans Coolant.

If you have a overheating problem, I also would suggest you fix the problem so you do not have to use the stuff.

My opinion.
