Bad cam gear now what?
29 mODEL A quit. took off cover and half the teeth were gone. i know this is common. took the nut off and got the bad gear off(fibre) and was ready to put on a aluminum one i had. for the life of me i can not find a mark on the crank gear to line up to the cam gear. washed all the teeth and nothing. what is the sequence for doing it now? do not have a clue. thanks. i tried the archives but did not find something.

Re: Bad cam gear now what?
It was just down a few threads with a picture I posted. The first tooth clockwise from the crankshaft keyway is the tooth that fits into the cam gear where the dimple is.

Re: Bad cam gear now what?
sorry if i had looked a little further down the page someone else had the same problem. i will try to pry on the slinger and see if i can find a mark closer to the center of the crank. if this fails then what?

Re: Bad cam gear now what?
Here's the picture again. You shouldn't have to pry the slinger, which you can't do unless you remove the crank nut on the front. Hopefully you can make out the key slot in the slinger. |
