Default Backfire

Thjopught i was having a vapor lock problem. ran \several miles on a cool (80 deg) day. No backfiring and car ran good. About 10 seconds after parking in barn it backfired. Ignition and fuel valve were turned off. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Drove (on 95deg day) With GAV shut off (obviously not off because the car continued to run), it backfired when stopped after about 8 mile trip. on the way home left the GAV off, but when parked at home, turned the fuel valve off and let the car continue to run. took about a minute for the car to die. then shut off the ignition.. no B/F. This i s a cumbersome way to solve problem will continue to look.
