Default Correct engine?

A 1931 Slant Window Cabriolet (available in May 1931) has a VIN on the title of
A3374051 which exactly matches the engine number. According to the Model A Ford Garage statistics engines #3304704 thru 3450000 were produced in May of 1930.

Would it be possible that Ford kept that 1930 engine in stock for a year before installing it?

Or is it more likely that at some point the engine was replaced and the title changed accordingly?

No, I am not going to remove the body.

Thank you for any input you may offer.

Likely the latter. In my case the engine is from mid-1929, in a mid-1930 coupe. In researching records, it was issued a state VIN (to be stamped on the door pillar), but somehow the ole boy managed to register it under the 1929 number. So long as the state receives the annual registration fee, nobody cares.
