Default Fan Bolt won't stay tight 1927

On my 27 I can't keep my fan belt tight.Should there be a lock washer before the nut? There not one on mine. What the problem?

Use a lock washer and some blue LOCTITE and it won't loosen.

New belts stretch for a bit till they break in plus they wear also. Previous advice will work to keep the bolt tight if that's the problem. They only need to be tight enough to do the job without slippage.

The fan bearing may also need service if it is getting any resistance to turning.

Another problem can be excessive wear on the pulleys or bad alignment, they both should have a bit of a crown to them. I assume this is the eccentric type fan belt adjuster that fits to the coolant outlet casting.
