Default does it matter

on a 39flathead does it matter what side of engine you put your heater shut off and temp gauge on passenger or drivers side is their a wright or wrong way. on my motor my water shut off is on the drivers side and my temp line is on the passenger side would this work the reason i am asking is i just installed a new heater in the car it never had one before. n. o thanks jim

If I understand your question, you are correct. Heater cut off valve is on the passenger side head and the temp probe is on the left or the driver's side.

Jim, Lawson is correct. The valve should be located on the passenger side, which points the hose forward. The hose then curves around the front of the carburetor, then back to the driver side firewall.
