Default Camshaft replacement

I just received my new Stipe 340 cam and plan on replacing my worn/pitted camshaft as well as install new modern valves, adjustable tappets and the fiber two piece gear with a metal one. Is there anything special I need to know or do when replacing the old camshaft. I have Les Andrews book and have read through the process. If anyone has any particular advice or experience on the process I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Lube all the moving parts and put assembly grease or Mystik JT-6 High Temp on the cam lobes and cam gear teeth. Be sure the timing marks line up as pictured, as it's easy to be a tooth off with helical gears. Also some book shows the teeth one off.

Make sure you use the correct lifters for that cam.

the correct lifters are the single lock type.
Not sure why you chose the .340 over the .330. Usually need valve/head work to make the best of that. Just installed a .330 in a stock motor for a client. Car drives like a dream and client is thrilled.
Bill Stipe specs the lash to be .012 I&E, but i always set an A to .013 for both. Never had ticking

Vince Falter has a lot of info on this

Thank you for the replies so far. I will also be installing new high compression head with dual stromberg 81's and FSI 12 V ignition and Bill Stipe lightened flywheel.

I have a model B motor similar to what you are building, cam, dual 81's etc. in my speedster. I used a Lion dual plug head with a modified electronic dual plug Datsun distributor, it dyno'd at 95 hp. It runs very good but not the best for street use. You can pm me you have specific questions about the configuration.
