Default ign point alignment

got stuff from snyders (always been treated well there) to rebuild a dist for a friend. i am not new at this. first, lower plate had to be ground to fit in dist body. and now i cannot make points line up with one another no matter what i do. best i can do is about 1/2 contact. anyone else had this, or can anyone shed any light on problem? thanx, roger

If the parts are that bad sent them back after calling. Snyders in a reputable vendor and I'm sure will make good.

Each vender cannot be expected to test fit every part they receive but they can be expected to make good under the applied warranty of merchantability that is an item sold is expected to perform it's job.

I have read, not so much with lining up but with getting face to face point contact, that some have "tweeked" the point arm so that the faces touch all the way across the surface. Any bend will shorten the arm and draw it back some.... might work if you are willing to play with it if the vendor doesn't want to take it back.....

if you are using the original point set up i just did one today. i replaced both plates repo and did not have to grind anything to fit... the original style replacement point block that is held in by the 2 screws is adjustable to align the points as one of the holes are slotted. you shouldn't have to bend anything
the screw with the star washer has the slotted hole in the plate

sometimes I've had to file out the adjustment hole in the upper plate where the point block mounts to get the points to line up when using a repro upper plate and a repro point block.

I had the same problem and after loosening the screws to adjust everything they still did not have 100% contact. I thought maybe I was worrying to much and started it that way. My car seems to run perfect after many miles.
