Re: Some Project Updates
With all this rain, don't let that Nailhead sit outside with the plugs removed. I made that mistake 50 plus years ago when I put a '57 Buick in my '48 coupe. Put the plugs back in and it wouldn't crank with water in the cylinders. But it did bend a connecting rod. I was too poor then for machine shop work, so I just ran the hell out of it and put up with the vibration. Went through a few axles before I figured out just how hard I could get on it.
Have fun. I will look for you at Shorty's |

Re: Some Project Updates
My rear end leak turned out to be a longer fight than anticipated of which, in the end, I prevailed .... part will be in tomorrow and I hope to have it buttoned up soon .....

Re: Some Project Updates
Got the new door latch assembly and striker plate and they are ready Natalie’s along with the window riser. Just waiting on door felt and metal channel before buttoning everything back up. Unfortunatllely those parts are .6-8 days out so I will start on ttexwindsjhield gasket.....

Re: Some Project Updates
Car has been on the run and steady for almost 2 weeks - woo hoo! Had one bent front rim that is out being fixed but she’s running great. Went to my buddy jacksandeuces (on the HAMB) and he had a bunch of cars hanging out in his yard, one being a flattie great race car that participated in ‘12. It was a great day to take some pics .....
Not all are everyone’s taste but a nice “car collage”, none-the-less ..... |

Re: Some Project Updates
Tom, you've done an amazing job on this coupe and very cool that you've brought us along from the "frame, on up"!!! Love the old school treatment on the Buick engine...at least I think I'm remembering this right!! A really nice complement to your roadster!!
Dick. P.S. Assume you won an award for this one at the Jalopyrama?? |

Re: Some Project Updates
Have not been on here lately and this was the first post i looked at. You did a great job on that 32 Tom. Looks, stance, engine, and everything is just right. Guess i won't see you tomorrow at the L.A. roadster show. Maybe next year. Have a good weekend, Mark.

Re: Some Project Updates
Dick - thanks for the compliments- I really appreciate it. No, I did not win anything at the Jalopyrama. I was just happy to have been selected to attend!
No, Mark - thanks for your compliments as it was a fun build. No, no LA Roadster show this year for me. Might try next year or the year after and maybe combine it with a couple other events while out there. I will keep you posted ..... |

Re: Some Project Updates
Tom,
Not being critical, but interested in knowing why you chose to install the Top Bow Rest Brackets intended for use on roadsters on your coupe? These are also often referred to as rumble seat “grab handles” (much to the dismay of purists) and are also sometimes seen on coupes equipped with rumble seats, also a point of contention with the purists. I assume your use of them on a coupe with a trunk was solely for aesthetics, much the same as any other trim piece would be? As I said, I kind of like the look of them anyway!! - |
