Default 1940 Ford Pick up Cowl Vent Knob

Does anyone know if this is the correct style cowl vent knob for a 1940 Ford Pick up? I wanted to double check before I place the order.

Thanks!

Thanks guys! Good idea to have a cowl vent screen? C&G sells them
but they are $40 bucks.

I would think you would want the screen. Is yours missing or just damaged?

I agree a screen is a good idea. I've only had the truck for a few months and I just discovered that the cowl vent opens. I thought it was sealed shut LOL
I'm excited to get it dialed in with a knob, screen and maybe a gasket.

Get a screen or you will be sorry later when you suck a bunch of mad hornets into the cab of your truck as you are cruising down the road. Even with a screen (every now and then) you may feel junk getting through the screen and hitting your legs.

I suggest a soft rubber gasket for the cowl. Carpenter is where I bought my second one. First was from Mac's and too stiff, could shut the vent door.

My 40 Tonner came with the ivory dash knobs and vent knob which were badly deteriorated. As I recall C&G or one of the vendors sold a kit which had all the knobs in it which is what I used in the truck. I would recommend installing the screen in the vent. When I first got the truck I took my wife to the local feed store to get some hay. It was a hot day and she wasn't too happy about the lack of air in the cab so I suggested that she open the vent to help cool it off. The result of that effort was the most amazing hurricane force wind that engulfed the cab with dust, wheat seed, dead insects, old gum wrappers, you name it. Not only does that screen keep things from coming into the cab it also acts as a choke plate to help control the flow of air. The expression on my wife's face after she wiped it off was priceless. Her words not so much......

My understanding is that the sand colored knobs were '40, black ones were '41.

+ 1 on that I was not happy with the original one I got so got one from Carpenters. I always go them first for rubber stuff.
