The length of time it takes to rebuild and promise the engine has nothing to do with the failure.

It's quite possible that he could be waiting on a part for months. Most Model A parts are not produced on a regular basis, but rather in batches as the supply dwindles. That might only be once or twice a year. Once the part manufacturer calls in the order to the foundry to pour more parts, they're in line with everyone else that has an order through that foundry. It can take awhile. Remember Larry Brumfield and his heads? Everyone got mad at him because he only made the heads a couple of times a year, and you had to wait until he made and machined them again.

This happens quite often, in machine shops, auto body, paint shops ect. 50% or more money is collected for the job, and after all the excuses are used, the truth is they spent the money that was to go for what ever job, and then needed more money, and they had to set back the collected on job, and start a new job that they can collect more funds sooner, and they dig a hole they can't soon, or ever get out of. I don't ever remember having to ever wait for any parts for a T, or A in 44 years.

As far as using a head for an example, you could use any head until that kind of part came.

Lastly, Most interuptions in part making is lack of cash flow. You have to get back your expenses, and a profit, to keep the parts coming.
