And, should you get the urge to try Apple Hydraulics, please check the forums for the experience others have had with then.

I vote for Andy also, he did my front and rear shocks, plus he’s close to you in MA.

Seems that there are so many correct '40 shocks out there on the swap meet market that shocks that seem sound should be tested in service. In recent months I have stacked up candidate shocks, perhaps to an excess. They could be a good bet for someone trying to save serious money on a '40 project. The trick is to move the shock through a full range of motion by hand while looking for worn shafts. Seldom pay over $20. Could also be that so many '40 parts in SoCal that it doesn't apply to many other areas. One of very few advantages living out here. Still need to mention it. Good Luck: Fred A

Fred, CORRECT 40 shocks are quite rare. Shocks that fit but are not correct are out there.

Yes "CORRECT" shocks! Where do you think that we learned the significance of "CORRECT"? In our own small way, we in the minor leagues are working within our means to emulate the guru(plural). Even though I have more than enough cores, if truly rare, perhaps they could be used as leverage. Interesting! Fred A
