Default Lost valve core

I was replacing a valve core on the tire of my 24 T with 21" wheels. Somehow the valve core went all the way through to the inner tube. I was able to insert a second core with no problem. Has this ever happened to anyone? My friend said that this was impossible. Just curious.

Thanking you in advance...…

Not sure how that could happen unless you grabbed one of the smaller diameter valves. the standard car valve core has been the same diameter for maybe more then 100 years, but some of the new ones might be smaller. Besides the core screws down to a seat and you would really have to get at it to get past that.
