Correct '33-'34 Ford tires
I am at the stage where I need tires for my '33 station wagon. I've looked at what's out there for 17" wheels and have found the LOOK of the tire I want ... BUT, I do not know what brand it is and where to locate them. I've looked at Coker, Lucas and Diamond but have come up short.
Can anyone please help in identifying what the tires are in the attachment (lifted from the web), the size and where can I locate them? I just love the look of them. Thanks!! |

Re: Correct '33-'34 Ford tires
Unfortunately no one offers one of the original tread pattern 5.50 x 17 tires (made by Firestone, Goodyear, B.F. Goodrich, or U.S. Tire) used in U.S. '33-'34 model year production. Those in your photos look very period like and I also wish I knew their maker (Cooper, perhaps?).

With respect, pretty close? Not by a mile, neither the tread nor the sidewall, at least those available in North America. The available 17" Firestones have a tread and sidewall from the mid 50s. The tire in the photo below is a NOS original.

Me too! It is quite similar to the original B.F. Goodrich tread and sidewall. |

Re: Correct '33-'34 Ford tires
I needed a narrow tire to fit in my spare tire case. The lucas tire listed above was the best I could find.
https://www.lucasclassictires.com/52...kwall-240p.htm Most tires sold today are too wide for the 1933/34 look. Last edited by FrankWest; 05-29-2018 at 08:07 PM. Reason: add picture |

Excellent point, valid for both side-mounted spares and for the two-piece steel tire covers that all but early '33 standard models were equipped with.

Re: Correct '33-'34 Ford tires
This also goes for 32's as well, at least for the "European" 32....The continental tire will not fit the covers OR the well in the fender inflated, you either have to de-flate the tires OR have the standard tires you speak of as spares!!!
