Spare tyre cover removal?
I am having difficulty removing the spare wheel cover on the Cabriolet.I have unlocked the cone under the hubcap and taken that off but I can't shift the cover.I don't want to rive at it and damage something, so can someone please explain if I'm missing something.Ive tried searching the archives but no info on this.

It's been so long since I've had a '36, that I don't remember. I will however, bump you back to the top.

Re: Spare tyre cover removal?
Gotta peel the outer spring band off the tread part, there is a loop to grab it with. Unwind it off the tire, the faceplate just pops on off, cause the spring band, and the center lock portion keeps it in place.

At least, that's the way it comes off in the states. You may have some sort of different arrangement in England!

Attached are photos of how my cover attaches, the lock is held onto the tyre faceplate with a circlip and once you unlock it the whole faceplate comes of once the tyre ring has been removed. Not sure the locking mechanism should ever come away from the faceplate as in your photo. |
