Default 55 fairlane front bumper bracket.

Should there be a front bumper bracket that mounts to the frame or body that holds the ends of the bumper in place ? picture or who sells them would be helpful. Thanks

I believe Dorf55 is looking for the bracket that supports the very end of the bumper to keep it from shaking. In addition to the two that Dobie Gillis posted.
I don't have any pictures of that one (if there even was one originally ?

Yes there is a bracket at each end of the bumper that attaches to the backside of the front wall halves. The brackets are held in place with the last two bolts and nuts fastening the splash pan to the front wall half. The end of the bracket has a large square hole for a bumper bolt. That's why there is a hole around the bend at the end of the bumper.
To my knowledge, these brackets are not available on the repro market.

yes, scicala you are correct. I'm thinking somekind of support must hold the bumper in place.

There are guys on here that have the manuals that will show this bracket. Have no idea if it's reproduced or not.
Hot Rod Reverend on the Ford Barn sells DVD's that I think will have the information also. He advertises in the Swap Meet section of the Barn, and also on EBAY I believe.

I guarantee there are hundreds of these laying around in parts boxes.

There are salvage yards that specialize in old cars. There is one in AZ but I have lost the URL.

Maybe start here - https://www.partrequest.com/ - and I will try to find the other (or someone here may have it).

The yards go by HOLLANDER PN's so try to get those if you can.

EDIT -

Try Here - https://www.dvap.com/

Let the board know how you do.

Try John's Salvage Co. in Seguin, TX. 830-379-2092 He has a website but it's best to call him and enquire. Good guy and he won't bend you over a fender on pricing.

There's a junkyard in Denton, Tx (I think it is called CTC's auto ranch). They have a bunch of 55/56 bumpers out near the cars and several models of '55/56 full size cars and wagons. Most of em picked apart pretty good now, but several bumpers layin around near the cars. Some bumpers still attached to cars. I did not notice if the loose ones still had brackets attached to them, but the cars that still had bumpers on them would most likely have the end brackets.

Also, around 2005 there was a junk yard North of Denver, CO on highway 25 that had a quite a few '55-'56 Fords. Assume they still may be there. Don't remember the name, but think it may be Dixie ? They let me go in and look around all I wanted.

DMI Collision Shop in Colorado Springs had some 55/56 cars (and plenty of others too) behind their building. http://www.dmicollision.com/ I was able to wander through their yard back in 2013. Their inventory has probably changed some since then.

Try Norbert Doll, 405-372-6606 out of Oklahoma. It’s been a few years since I dealt with him - he specializes in mid-fifties Fords.
