Re: car shipping?
They all get on something called 'Central Dispatch'. This tells them where something else is along their route. I tried not to pay a broker to find a driver, but that lead to very long delays. Finally I paid a broker named Mario in Florida to get my panel truck shipped from Minnesota to NW Washington. Strange how it works. Mario found 'Big Sky Haulers', a very good family business out of Montana to get the truck here for me. They have a website, but don't think they go to the Deep South. I think I found Mario on Uship, like the previous poster mentioned.........

Re: car shipping?
Just shipped from MI to WA. Intercity Lines is the most professional outfit I've ever encountered. Enclosed trailer. Vehicles treated as if they were theirs. And no, they didn't pay me to sing their accolades.

Re: car shipping?
I've used Van Dam Trucking. John is a great guy and is very reliable. He has a an enclosed trailer(can haul several cars at a time) and operates all over the US. [email protected]. He's based in North Dakota.

Re: car shipping?
I used U Ship going from Spokane, WA to Houston, TX. They ended up calling me too early to pick up the car as I had not been paid fully yet. Once the buyer paid me there was someone at my door within 24 hours. The truck that showed up was a double decker car hauler but did take the precaution to put my car on the lower deck and right up front to minimize any damage which turned out there wasn't any.
It ups to you who you pick and what type of car you're hauling. Good Luck

Re: car shipping?
I used Passport recently to get my '36 from Cape Cod to Atlanta. They were great, car arrived two days early in perfect condition. I thought the price was reasonable, especially with the service provided.

Re: car shipping?
This may sound crazy, but the local phone book may be your best bet. You'll find quite a few "companies" online that are really just brokers. There's a couple prominent names out there you should probably stick to: DAS, Montway, I hear about uship a lot but no one I know has used them. I've used A-1Auto Transport before and would again. Best thing you can do is find who the major operations are in those areas and compare prices.

Re: car shipping?
Reliable is without a peer. That's why the new car companies use them to move their prototypes. And, they usually cost less than the independent haulers.

Re: car shipping?
I used Reliable and was happy with there service. Also, they were the most reasonable on price. The car was shipped from MN to OH.

Re: car shipping?
I used Passport to ship a '39 Ford convert from OR to Mich. ~ $100 less than Reliable. Pretty much on Mike Kubarth's recommendation. Good call. Thanks Mike

Re: car shipping?
My very first experience having a car shipped to CA was BAD! I selected one that advertises in Hemmings Motor News and has their own fleet...not a broker. The company booked the vehicle and gave us a schedule.
The driver never picked up my vehicle...and never notified the seller or myself of a problem. The shipper's office called to report that the driver already had a full load and we would have to wait 10 days for their next trip. (I do NOT recommend Thomas Sunday Transport!)

Re: car shipping?
We have used Reliable and Montway. Both very good .Montway is a little cheaper and faster with good service. Had a car brought to Idaho from New Jersey a couple weeks ago. $1,775.00 and last week had one from Indiana for $1750.00 enclosed.
