Default Problems with IE-11

My company upgraded my work computer to IE-11. Now I can't open the thumbnails that are posted. The thumbnails show OK, just won't open when you click on them. Just gets a black image with the little circle going round & round.

Anyone else have that problem?

Oh, and unlike home, I don't have a choice on browsers at work. I take what they give me.

Won't they let you download Firefox or is that a corporate no-no?

I'm using my backup laptop until I can get my main laptop to work. I sometimes have the same problem. I hit the back arrow and then reclick on the thumbnail and it usually opens the picture. Sometimes the page just goes darker without the turning circle, but I do the same thing and it usually works.

That's about the size of it.

I get the same black screen except a image is in the center with the turning circle telling me it is down loading 1 0f 1, after a few seconds I click the close "X" and the post returns, I then click on the image and a large photo of image appears. If there is more than one photo I have the option in the image to click "next" and so forth until all photos are done.

Thanks guys, don't know why I didn't think of that. But by-golly it works!

IE 11 is currently the most secure browser on the market and that is why your company is using it. I understand it's a pain sometimes but the admin that is securing your network is just trying to keep your assets safe. That being said you have the option when you see image problems like you are describing to open the page in what is called compatibility mode. In the address bar you will see an icon that looks like a page of paper torn in half. Click on this and IE will open the page with some settings disabled.

I switched to Windows 10 and EDGE. Much better than Windows 7 and IE11. But I kept IE 11 around as not all pages respond well to EDGE.

I wish they would just leave things alone. I never had a problem with windows ME on my first computer back 14 years ago. Change and obsolete, so you have to buy something new. Just another waste.

I'm using Win 7 and I still have to click on the icon, get a black image, click off to close it and then re-click it to view it. Or just cycle through the multiple images to get to see them the second time around. It didn't used to be this way until I performed an update. Good to know the newer versions aren't any different.

They are coming up with new programs but you don't have to install them unless you require the latest one.
Mine is about 5 years old and it does most all what Windows 11 does..
I gave up all of that space vector calculation stuff so I don't need a 10 quad, 50 terrabyte machine.

If you have an old laptop, you might wish to load MINT linux...

http://www.linuxmint.com/

It will come with Firefox and chrome and an open source OFFICE.... As mac's I've used then for years, Macbook's are a UNIX operating system and are more stable than any MSFT OS.
