Default Re: Small Fire Extinguisher to Carry in Car

I stopped a car going down an interstate that was no fire, a trucker stopped and we used his 3-5 lb extinguisher, the fire just got mad and laughed at us. The car burned down to the frame, when the fire got to the gas tank it just got larger then settled down, BUT when the fire got to the tires.....an explosion blew the fenders off!!!!

Are none of you in the AACA? They require a fire extinguisher in every car,at their shows.
One judge has the task of checking to make sure each one is ul approved and gauge is in the green.

I think it was here. A guy wrapped up a small box with a lid to look like a gift. Then sat it on the parcel shelf. Another Idea I saw was a wooden box with a lid used the same way. Easy to get to and use if you need it ASAP. The box was bolted to the parcelshelf. JP

I have a dry powder one, it’s better than nothing, when I find another one I will carry 2, I was in the volunteer fire party for over 7 years and often a small one is not enough, I have had to empty 2 or 3 on an engine fire to put it out more than once.
