Default Generator Bolt size

I have a 37 generator. I'm looking for the bolt size that holds the band which goes over the generator. It bolts to the generator bracket. Thanks Ray

Originally it was a 10-32 x 1 3/8" round head screw used with a 10-32 square nut, the same as was used for the band on the starter motor.

The only 'band' on a '37 generator that I know of is the dust cover on the back that covers the brushes. There is not a band that connects to the generator bracket.
Sounds more like you have an 8BA style generator where the band bolts to the bracket.
If that's the case and if my memory is correct, it's 3/8" coarse thread. (simple enough for you to check)

Thanks, That makes sense, it is on an 8Ba using the 37 generator with the fan mounted to it.
