Default ranchero tail lights

My 60 ranchero that i just picked up has some taillight issues. I haven't jumped into it yet but wondering if there are any prior suggestions or people who have had similar problems. The right blinker works and shows the right blinker is on on the dash( if that makes any sense) But the left blinker does not work and when turned to the left, the dash shows the right blinker is on. Did someone get the dash wiring backwards? Or is it just the tail light area? Thanks for any help!

Try a NEW 1157 bulb in the taillight.

If that don't work, then maybe the sockets (taillight or park/signal light)
have a bad wire, bad connection, or a grounding problem.

Definitely make sure you have a good ground for both lights.

Check your sockets for good connections with the bulbs, replace the bulbs, check for good grounds, and check your wiring for any bad insulation causing shorts or grounds. I would also replace the flasher.

Run some temporary grounds on the left side and see if the problem clears up. If not, probably bad socket..

You state that your right signal works, so DON"T waste money on a flasher.

I think you're going to find the problem is your light switch itself. Do the brake lights work correctly? Tail lights? Park lights? With headlights on or off? Get the test light or VOM out and do the tests on the bulbs, sockets, grounds, etc. Know where you have power, when you have power and when you don't.
