Tool Kit for Boys
First of all I have no connection what so ever with Harbor Freight.
That being said, I found a fabulous Christmas gift for boys age 3 and up that hey are selling. It is a 56 Piece Toy Power Set. It has adjustable wrenches, a level, dial indicator and lot's of other neat things. It even has safety glasses and an orange hard hat. If you have a young boy or a Grandson I strongly suggest you look at this. It is Item 6047 and is on sale now. |

Re: Tool Kit for Boys
Just so all are aware, even if a HF item is on sale as long it is not a "coupon" item their 20% off coupon will apply. I don't see a coupon necessary for the $24.99 price so that 60476 tool kit can be bought for $20.

He'll bang on sheet metal or put stuff in the vise that I mounted on it, but I would also think about doing something like this if you have a youngster who is interested in tools or making stuff. |

Re: Tool Kit for Boys
Twenty years ago I bought my first grandson a "visible V8" He reminded me of that a couple years ago. He became a "tech" at a Mbenz dealer for a couple years, and now works for Tesla. He "blames" his automotive interest on that early toy. Good Idea Joe!

Re: Tool Kit for Boys
6 or 7 years ago I gave both of my sons (now 13 and 16) Craftsman tool boxes as a Chrismas gift. Since then every Christmas and most birthdays have included something to put in the tool box. They may not fully appreciate it now, but when they are on their own they will a far better set of tools than almost anyone else their age. Right now there are 1/2" hammer drills and drill indexes wrapped under the Christmas tree.

Re: Tool Kit for Boys
Many years ago, when my sons were young, Now 38 & 41, I bought them each a cheapie roll- around tool box and tools. One got a set of Craftsman tools, the other got a set of S-K tools that I was able to buy at twenty-five cents on a dollar from a place that was going out of business. Now the 41 year old is a seasoned mechanic who works in a restoration shop, the 38 year old does his own mechanical work at home, and at his place of business. It was a good minor investment that helped prepare them for the future. Money well spent.

Re: Tool Kit for Boys
When I was about 10 years old (1953), my dad got tired of me leaving his wrenches out in the rain, along with pliers, etc. So, that Christmas I got a Craftsmen tool box with Craftsmen wrenches I'm still using today!!! It worked....never left tools outside again!! Merry Christmas to all!!

Re: Tool Kit for Boys
Is that how I get my kids to stop dragging my tools out of the tool box and using them as spades and hoes in the back yard. (Usually I find them when I run over them with the lawn mower, which has the added value of shaking off some of the rust.)

Re: Tool Kit for Boys
Kids today are so lucky to receive gifts such as these. When I was a youngster we were so poor that my dad would cut holes in our pockets on Christmas just so we would have something to play with.

Re: Tool Kit for Boys
My great granddaughter helps me on all my projects. She has her own tools and I built her a workbench for Christmas.

Here's the best thing HF has to offer for bonding with a grandchild:
http://www.harborfreight.com/bingo-game-set-96674.html Helps show them "low tech" stuff can be entertaining and the world had fun before smart phones and UTube existed. My 9 year old grandson loves it and he has all the high tech gadgets. Bingo Game Set item#96674 $9.99 |
