No, but if his car only goes 43 MPH with different engines and carbs, I thought his linkage maybe wasn't opening the throttle plate enough.

The throttle shaft assembly can be bent and with the accelerator on the floor the carburetor throttle plate may not be in the full open position. You need to have some one step on the throttle with the engine not running and you open the hood and see if the throttle lever travels to the full open position. If it does not go to full open then you need to look at the throttle shaft assembly and correct the problem. I have seen too much heat insulation under the carpet, floor mat and that stopped the accelerator from full opening of the throttle plate.

Just installed a Bert's carb on my 29 tudor. Its everything promised and worth the price. While I normally cruse at 45-50, this car will zip up to 60 plus. Beautiful idle. Highly recommended.
