Motor Stay Rods (anti-chatter rods)
Anyone in the Ford Barn have the correct part number for the Motor Stay Rods. I can't find them in the "Green Bible" also the years of application.
The ones I have are 15 1/8" long. See attachment. Thanks, Mark |

Re: Motor Stay Rods (anti-chatter rods)
There are different length rods on different years. Model A's don't have them.

Re: Motor Stay Rods (anti-chatter rods)
Hello The Question is what yearare you asking about. I Just measured my NOS 32 V8 rods and they are 16-7/16 mounting flangeto end. These bolt thru and bolt to the backside of the main crossmember on the 32. The ones mark shows are 33 or later and bolt to top of the x member as do all of the later chatter rods. Chatter rods have a basic p/n of 6028 32 V8 18-6028 33-34 40-6028 35's 48-6028 and on & on. I would guess the ones Mark is showing are mid to late 30's

Re: Motor Stay Rods (anti-chatter rods)
These were necessary on '32 & later, as the pedals were frame mounted & would push the engine a little on the rubber motor mounts, resulting in clutch chatter as clutch was engaging. My friend complained that his clutch chattered on his recently purchased '47 Ford Coupe--------------OOPS! No stabilizers, put a set on & Smooth as GLASS! Bill W. (He's STILL smilin'!)

I have a 1932 roadster and am installing a 59AB V8 into it. This has been a life long project which I am assembling now. I have two anti chatter rods and believe that the one shown with the threaded end is not original but am looking for confirmation. The big Green Book on page #223 lists two different rods for the V8, 18-6027, Rod Assy- RH and 18-6028-A for the LH. My flanged end rod is the correct 15-1/4" long per the description. What is the difference between the two rods listed in the Green Book. Pictures would be great! Thanks, Glenn |

Post this question on the EV8 forum. There are several "guru's" over there that can answer your question(s).

Thanks, I just did. This was my first post and didn't recognize that I posted to the wrong forum, just searched for a likely thread to add to.
