Post pics?. . . from computer to Ford Barn?
What . . . is . . . thee . . . easiest, quickest, foolproof way . . . . . to post
JUST /ONLY! a picture, photo, or image when posting JUST/ONLY! a picture, photo, or image . . . . . OR, What . . . is . . . thee . . . easiest, quickest, foolproof way to post a message with the photo! hmmm. I have tried to post a photo from my computer "My Pictures" folder which is Windows, Google Chrome, Bing on my aging HP computer! Note: I do not want or need to go to manage attachments BECAUSE I have no attachments, and it has so told me a couple/few times! that I DON'T HAVE ANY; YOU AIN'T GOT NUTHIN ON HERE. QUIT BOTHERN' ME! NOW, when I try to post a piture . . . just one to begin with . . . I receive the query: enter your URL. I, of course do not have a URL because I do not have a website! I just want to post a picture from "My Pictures" folder! Why is this procedure soooo limiting! Is there any way to transfer OR copy a picture from My Pictures folder on my aging HP Windows, Google Chrome, Bing computer? Thank you in advance. Pat Malone |

Pat
When you get to the "Grey" matted box where you typed "THIS" post, IF you look at the "TOP" middle of the "dashboard" (Grey Highlighted frame) there is a "Paper Clip" icon. Click on that "paper clip" icon. A box will appear with about 6 or so lines with the word "Browse" in grey on the left and white line to the right "no image selected". Click "browse" and that will give you the option to search "YOUR" computer for the files in which your pictures are saved. Click on the picture you want "Uploaded" and it will upload from your computer. You can up load multiple pictures as you can see. once you have all the pictures you want selected and shown in the boxes LOOK at the lower right of the box and you will see the grey box "upload". Click that box and that will "UPLOAD" your pictures. Once that is done you can click that box OFF at the upper right corner of the that box. I always go to the bottom of the post box when that is done and hit "PREVIEW POST" to make sure everything uploaded as it should of!!!! *****NOTE***** be mindful of the file size "IF" the file is TOO BIG it will not up load.

Paul
Your photo's are "THE ATTACHMENTS" that you are managing!!! IF you don't have "attachment's" I.E. - PHOTOS, then yea, there is "nothing" to post or that will post!!! |

Re: Post pics?. . . from computer to Ford Barn?
To "post a picture" you must upload the picture to the website as an "attachment". You do this thru "manage attachments". Once you are in the "manage attachments" page/window and have clicked the "choose file" button and selected the picture you want from your "my pictures" folder, click "upload". Once the computer has thought about it and uploaded, a url will appear. Near the bottom click "close window" which will automatically return you to the "reply to thread" window. Type what you would like but the photo will not appear as a visible photo until you click "submit reply" and are back viewing your post in the thread. The picture will appear under your writing/typing as a thumbnail that people can click on to enlarge.
If the picture won't upload when you click "upload" then typically the file size is too large. I find it easiest to email yourself the photo then post the emailed photo as it will give you the option or automatically reduce the picture size when emailed. The little yellow square with black sun and mountains button which asks you for the image URL is only used to post pictures which already exist online on a web page already. Once you get the above figured and can get a picture uploaded/attached as a thumbnail, that newly uploaded photo now has a URL which is visible under "additional option" below the thread when in "advanced settings". You can then copy that URL and paste into the window after you click the yellow box with black mountains and sun. This will make writing appear in the thread box but you will not see a visible photo until the post is uploaded. This will post the photo "large" and not as a thumbnail. In reality a thumbnail is all that's needed as people can just click it to enlarge or someone will come along and repost large for you.

Re: Post pics?. . . from computer to Ford Barn?
I just posted this as an addendum to "JSeery"'s excellent procedure.
"JSeery"'s post #6 in the aforementioned thread is fine, and will work if the picture is "small" enough (pixel-wise). Where I had my problems when I first tried this was that I would get an error message when the system finally tried to upload the picture. The upload process would fail because the system would consider the picture too large. I don't remember the exact error message, but I seem to remember that it was misleading, and it took me a while to figure out what was actually going wrong. When I finally figured it out, I set the picture resolution low enough on the camera I use to take shots for the forum so that the pictures always fit. They were still fine for general viewing and would upload directly. The problem is that most cameras (phones, iPads, etc.) are too advanced for use on the forum. Their pictures are just too "good". Luckily, just about everything can be reset for the lower resolution and will produce pictures that will upload. Those of us who (either intentionally or through luck) have our devices set to the lower resolution will never see a problem, while a "Newbie" with the latest iPhone will have tons of problems. |

Mr. highbeams ..... You do have a sense of humor, and that's GOOD, 'cuz this topic can be frustrating.....until SOMETHING pops, and you finally see the 'BIG Picture'! Like said above, EVERY picture you want to post is an "ATTACHMENT", whether it is a picture stored on your ancient HP, or a "url" (which is a picture ALREADY posted SOMEWHERE on the WORLD-WIDE-WEB) which includes ANY picture that has ALREADY been posted on FordBarn. A "URL" is just a digital ID for an image. So...........Whether you realize it or not (yet), "Manage Attachments" will somehow be involved with posting ANY image on the FordBarn. "MANAGE ATTACHMENTS" gives you the access to the PAPER CLIP used to post pictures from your old HP, and it also gives access to the "YELLOW SQUARE with MOUNTAINS" ( ) that you need to post a "URL" from the internet. Another method that I ALWAYS use is the "POST REPLY" button ( ), located at the BOTTOM, LEFT of every thread. By using that button to reply to a post, or to a thread, it gives you all the tools you will need at the top of the window, just like "MANAGE ATTACHMENTS" or "GO ADVANCED" does. You CANNOT post images without using the PAPER CLIP, or the YELLOW SQUARE with MOUNTAINS. We're gonna 'learn' ya how to do this, come hell or high water! Keep trying! DD ...... |

Re: Post pics?. . . from computer to Ford Barn?
Pat,
How is it going? Dont get frustrated on the picture thing. I copy and past mine from a storage site called imgur. When they come in as i paste them, they look like text, like this below. (img]https://i.imgur.com/ejWnmnR.jpg?1[/img] Then when I hit the post button at the bottom they show up as a picture. (note I removed the first bracket and replaced with a parenthesis so you could see the text. My method is labor intensive. But it works and I have about 7.500 pictures saved in Imgur of my various projects. Looks like lots of good information has been given to you here. Looking forward to many pictures from you. Regards, Chris

Re: Post pics?. . . from computer to Ford Barn?
Most definitely too large. They need to be half that size or less. The upper limit is a bit vague.
I use the Paint app to resize.
