can anyone provide the measurements for the venture and throttle bore for the 48 & 97, trying to identify some misc parts.

Top housing if you don´t have the detent spring for choke it´s a 48
Then larger bore is 48 think it´s 1 1/32.
Bottom 48 has one linkage ball compared to 2 for 97...
I might have messed up someone else will shime in.

Main Venturi Model 97 = .969"
Main Venturi Model 48 = 1.03"
Minor Venturi (both) = .440"
Throttle bore (both) = 1.189"

The castings have part numbers. The top of the Model 40 and 48 only seem to vary by the casting number that can be found in the float bowl area. All of the Stromberg Models have different casting numbers on the center section. The iron base has to be looked at since all use the same cast number. Stromberg made a lot of Carbs. for a lot of different cars trucks and other vehicles. There were a LOT of people trying to rebuild the Strombergs or to modify them for racing or economy. Often incorrect parts or modified parts can be found inside carburetors. It helps a lot to find diagrams with sizes.

The casting numbers on the passenger side of the carburetors are as follows, 1 1/32 is a 48, 31/32 is a 97, some 81 carburetors have a 13 / 16 casting number on them. A lot of the Stromberg carburetors have 1 1/32 on them,but they are not necessarily model 48's. As was stated, Stromberg made a lot of somewhat similar carburetors, for Packards, Buicks, and others.

sorry to hijack this thread but heard some time ago about someone making sleeves to reduce a 97 back to a 81 then nothing [similar to the reducers used to take a 350 holley back to 320] does anyone Know anything or did it deadend
