Default Recommended hole size for drive rivits

The repop data for ford firewalls. What size hole is recommended for the drive rivits that secure it in place?

If you are talking about spiral drive nails then measure the dia. of the ones you have and make the hole appox. .020-.030" smaller.
Try it on a piece of sheet metal to verify and adjust as necessary.
The factory nails were not pre-drilled but were shot directly thru to pierce the sheet metal.

With respect, pre-WWII Ford patent and body number plates were attached with round head spiral thread drive rivets into existing holes in the firewall, not shot directly through to pierce the sheet metal.

Pick a drill a few thousands larger than the base diameter of the rivit, the round part before the raised part

I dug around in the junkyard and found a post war truck cab or what was left of it.

It was the 42 to 47 style and it had the drive rivits still intact and not pierced nails. Pictures are from the junk cab and the new Carpenter tag. Reason for needing to drill new holes , someone had filled in the original ones

The repop tag was from Carpenter and what i found comparing the original firewall hole to a snug drive in fit was a number 35 wire size drill (.110)

Size could vary with other make repop tags.

If you search for the same info as i did and you end up reading this the drill size i used may or may not work with the drive rivits from different suppliers.
