I am planning to be there in my newly created '35 fordor flatback sedan..... Rat Rod.

Vic, will you or any of your neighbors mind me pulling this into the gated community there? The straight pipes/open exhaut system is a little loud when I start revving that big block OHV chevy engine up to around 6 to 8 grand. It usually takes that kind of rpm to squeal those big rear tires when I dump the clutch.

LOLOL....yes Don, I decided to build this 35 slant back fordor sedan (in my mind ) after seeing the new Star Wars movie. It would take a lot of guts, or possibly a gun to my head, to transform my survivor 35 standard fordor slant back sedan over to this fire breathing, monster of a Rat-Rod, especially since I could not bring myself to even put a new hole anywhere in its beautiful firewall, fenders or body .

Hi Jerry, I haven't secured a discount rate just yet however, I'm sure we will be able to get a deal at the same hotel we've worked with for the last several years. Once I get conformation, I will post the info here.

We have made arrangements for the hotel for the 2016 Florida "Barner's Bash". The discount room rate is $79.95 per night. When you call to book a room, make sure you mention the Cigar City Flatheads to get the discount. See you in March.

The schedule is as follows: Most out-of-towners will arrive at the hotel on Thursday afternoon or evening. As yet we have not scheduled anything for Thursday evening however, that will most likely change.

Friday we will meet at the hotel at 8:00 am and depart at 9:00 am for our cruise up to Ocala to tour "Big Daddy" Don Garlits Museum. We will have lunch and cruise back to Tampa. Friday evening we will try to arrange a group diner dinner.

Saturday we will meet at the hotel (time to be determined) for our cruise to Dade City (details to follow). At this time we have not confirmed any activities for Saturday evening.

Sunday we will meet at my house and travel as a group to the Park where we have the BBQ. Most likely we will get to the Park between 10:00 and 10:30 am. We have the pavilion reserved from 8:00am till dusk however, you can leave at any time, as there is no set schedule. Hope to see you at the event.

We got a good deal on plane tickets to Orlando from Jet Blue. Doing Disney with Son, his wife and twin granddaughters, then some day trips around Southwestern Florida, and finally to the Cigar City Flatheads Barner's Bash.

☆Vic, we are counting on you to order up some good weather for this years Barner's Bash gathering

The Cigar City Flatheads are based in the Tampa Bay Area so, each year we try to schedule things to do around the area. This year we will once again return to "Big Daddy" Don Garlits Museum in Ocala and also visit a collection in Dade City in addition to our traditional BBQ on Sunday in Saftey Harbor. There have been other events in the North East, put on by Barner's but, if you are interested in holding an event in North Florida, you'll have to take the initiative. Hope you can make it to our event. Vic

Al, don't forget to mention that you are with the Cigar City Flatheads so you can get the discounted room rate. See you at the BBQ. Vic

Nothing like boogy boarding behind a '35 deluxe 5 window coupe, although I believe she would have been much happier behind a '35 deluxe 3 window coupe or maybe even a topless roadster......

Yes, I posted them in the thread from last year. You should be able to find them using the search function. I'll try it myself to see if I can find them.

We are scheduled to have beautiful sunny skies with temps in the 70's all weekend! Perfect topless cruisin' weather for the 10th Annual Florida "Barner's Bash"... The fun starts this evening at the host hotel

Vic, the weather has been superb all week. Been in shorts and tee's since last Saturday.

I'm thinking now I just may stay down for a couple more weeks since we have bad weather forecasts up north, and do those shows around Amilia Island that Hoop is always talking about and planning to attend. Would be great to meet up with him and discuss all of our opinions on these early Flathead vehicles, some of which we are at totally opposite ends of the spectrum from agreeing on.

Vic, when I arrived at the host hotel between 12:00 & 1:00 pm today, several barner's had already checked in, and during a quick loop around the parking lot, I found this nice little Model A fordor sedan sitting all by its lonsome, so, you know me, out came the Tablet for my first shots at the 2016 Barner's Bash....for those who couldn't make it, there will be plenty more pictures to post in the next few days.....stay tuned

ps...in my rush to get these pictures and then to register, I forgot to check whether this model A had 4 or 8 cylinders. Will report back on this later....

Check-out those radial tires. That MAY be an interesting little car on the underneath-side. Sure looks nice on the visible, upper-side. What's that on the door? License plate from........? DD

I had a short ride in that Model A before we all went to dinner tonight and it runs, drives and brakes nicely. It has a four banger engine that has been modified to accept insert bearings, larger diameter valves, two barrel intake, lightened flywheel, t5 OD transmision conversion, modern tubular shocks, 16", '35 wire wheels with radial tires, mechanical brakes with Flathead Ted's brake floaters/equalizers, and an F100 steering box is all I can remember right now.

The signs on the doors are an advertisement for Jerry Shook's Landscaping business, and the tags are Georgia. A very nicely done driver.

Thank you for the details, John. After studying your pictures, that is one of those cars that just has "the look"......the look that subtlely says "there's a whole bunch more cool stuff buried within, IF'n ya take the time to dig a little.....and APPRECIATE"! I had already guessed it might have a T5. Super little car! DD

Had a great time today on the run to Ocala to the Don Garlits Museum. Some of us also signed up for the tour done by Don himself through his personal garages and collection of things that are not kept in the museum buildings. Took a lot of great pictures and did some videos of Don talking about his early dragsters and some of his flathead engine collection including several Ardun engine conversions. I will post some pictures later tonight or tomorrow morning.
Here is one picture I took, this morning, riding in the back of Vic's 39 CS. Mike from Maine is riding shotgun.

A great first day. I did not really know what to expect, but it really exceeded my expectations. The best part is the people. A great bunch of guys to meet for the first time. One has not lived until you have ridden with Vic up I-75 in his 39 Convertible Sedan.

I did that in December. I am of the opinion the 39 is really a "smart car" disguised as a 39.

Vic and I talked, laughed while the car was in auto pilot, knew the route. It also liked speeds in excess of 65.

Brendan, I rode in the back of Vic's '39 Lincoln Zephyr convertible today up to see an awesome private car and memorabilia collection, and then on to a car show in Dade City. Will be posting many more pictures as time permits.

Had a few minutes before I head to Vic's place and the picnic/car show at the park....

Jeff & Chuck, wish you could have made this years gathering. We have a great group of folks here this year with some beautiful old Fords! Have had a super time so far, even though I don't have my '35 fordor here with me this time. I am getting to ride "topless" in some very cool old Fords and Lincolns. I will be posting many more pictures here when I can make that happen.
Cheers!

A few more pictures. I still have many more to post .......

Just left the "Bash". A great bunch of guys, and the patient wives who came along, and a terrific time. Thanks to the local hosts, who could not have been more hospitable. The biggest thanks to Vic for keeping the thing going and to Bill Wzorek for getting the thing going ten years ago.

I got to ride in Vic's 39 convertible sedan, his 39 Zephyr, Keith's 48 convert, Pete's beautiful 40 convertible and to take Jerry's 31 Slant Window for a drive to check out his Flathead Ted's floaters. What can be better than spending a weekend with a bunch of flathead fanatics? Some might just say fanatics, but a more fun group you'd be hard pressed to find! I hope I can make it next year!

I took a bunch of pics. I will try not to duplicate JM's.

Thanks for attending the event, it was another blast of a "Barner's Bash". I enjoyed having you ride shotgun in my '39's. Glad you had a good time and looking forward to seeing you again next year. Vic

I was having so much fun at the Florida “Barner’s Bash” that I really didn’t take a lot of photos. I’ll post a few that I did take. I know there were a lot of people taking photos so hopefully they will post some here as well. Here's a shot of my '39 Lincoln Zephyr Convertible Club Coupe in front of a beautiful '42 Lincoln Zephyr Coupe.

Thanks Andy, photographs are very kind to the LZ, me, not so much... I drove her on Saturday, the first time she has been out of the garage in a month or so... Still working on getting the dash prepped and ready for paint... Problem is, every time I get behind the wheel of the Zephyr, I just want to keep driving her, not working on her...

That Zeph is a very cool car (Vic's). I like the 42, as well, but nothing like top down motoring. Maybe a Zeph for me when my ship comes in.

Vic, I will be posting many more pictures when I get time

Had a great time at the '16 Bash. A big thank you goes to you, Keith and both of your wives. Also to Pat and Candy for arranging that great tour of Tom's collection, and last but certainly not least to Bill and LeeAnn Wzorek for all they have done to make these Barner's gathering's so much fun and so special. All of you folks have become such good friends.... thanks to me having joined the Fordbarn way back ~ 2002, beginning during Shelly's time of ownership.

Lawson, we saved a seat for you at the picnic and a parking spot for Apatchy, but Vic said you might be a no show, again, as in the past. What's up with that?? . Are you possibly concerned that Apatchy might not make it all that way down from Georgia? I have a picture of you and Shelly standing together at some previous event. I'll have to try to dig that one up from the ancient archives of my computer picture files and post it here .

John, that photo must have been taken at the Moonshine Festival eight or nine years ago... Lawson just likes to give me a hard time... must be his way of showing how much he loves me... LOL or, as Lawson would say "ROFLMSAO".

No fears about Apatchy not making it. Is me what keeps us away. I really should not be driving at all. I cannot control the foot pedals well at all, and that is dangerous for me and others. I caused a 4 car pile up last week, totaling my car. No one hurt, thankfully.

Here are the photos I took on my phone. Real camera photos will come later. These include: the caravan ready to leave the hotel on Friday to the Garlits Museum, a 48 Chrysler with a hemi engine that showed up at the Garlits museum the same time we did, some shots of the drag racing museum, reflection of Vic's 39 Convertible Sedan in a hub cap, Vic's 39 Ford, a artsy shot of Vic's 39 Lincoln Zephyr and a street rod from the barbeque on Sunday.

I was just pullin' your chain a bit Lawson, but I had always hoped you would come to one of these events so we would all have a chance to meet you in person.

Sorry to here about your four car pileup, and glad no one was injured in that mishap.

Milford, don't worry about duplication, these guys love to see pictures, even if they look at the same things a couple times , besides your shots were probably taken from different angles than than mine, and will show different items in the background. Keep 'em coming!!

Here are a few shots taken at the barbecue on Sunday. Note the JM has not lost his magic with the ladies! We had a great time seeing everyone, and wish we could have been along for the tours on Friday and Saturday. Thanks to Vic and everyone for making this a fantastic event.

It has come to my attention that a number of Barner’s, that attended the 10th Annual Florida “Barner’s Bash”, were not happy with the accommodations. I’m sorry to hear this as the hotel we used has been the same one for the last five or so years. Recently the hotel changed ownership and I guess the new management has not kept up a satisfactory level of service. As a result, I will be sure to make a change in accommodations for next year’s event.

I would appreciate hearing from you, if for nothing else; to let me know if anything related to the Florida “Barner’s Bash” was unsatisfactory.

All of the Cigar City Flatheads, myself included, take pride in putting together what we hope will be enjoyable and memorable (for all the right reasons) events. Feedback from attendee’s is necessary for us to know what works and what doesn’t. Thanks for your continued support.

Vic

Hi Everyone, I double-dog-dare y'all to try to organize one of these deals. Not easy to sleep in the days leading up to the event.

Vic, keep up the faith!

Set the date early enough and I (pretty much) promise to trailer down next March. (Pending Spring Break dates, I'll let you know as soon as I do, or set it up in October and I can request off.)

It's all said and done Bob. This is just post Bash discussion time and some additional picture posting going on here right now. Maybe think about keeping some time open for next year, late February to early March time frame. Always some fun in the sun time hanging with the Cigar City Flathead Crew in the Tampa area.

Hey Vic, keep up the good work on the annual FL Barner's Bash. I know from my past limited experience on putting these types of gatherings/tours together....it just ain't an easy thing to do....no two ways about it!! For me, it's always a treat to get down your way during one of the two worst months of our winter up here in MD. Whatever you and your CCFH guys put together is all just icing on the cake for me, once I'm down there in the fun in the sun state.
Now having said the above, I did send you a PM last night about something I stumbled upon this year regarding accommodations,... I did not send this because I was unhappy with anything, but only because you asked to hear some feedback from us on this
