Default My New Ford Barn Find!

a friend called me yesterday and said he knew a guy not far from me who had an old ford truck in the barn he would like to sell due to moving south.i knew the barn cause i pass it on way into town sometimes.never knew the farm had any equipt or trucks around cause i never seen nobody around there in 20-25yrs. anyway,i showed up to meet the older gent and this is what i found and ended up coming home with a really nice old truck.

Very nice find!! If it were mine, I would keep it just as found on the exterior, but restore the mechanicals for safe driving on todays roads. Keep us posted on your progress with this.truck.

I kept looking at it and thinking it was sittin' , in the words of Bob Seeger 'way up firm and high'. I thought "this guy didn't stumble onto a MH conversion.... or did he?" That is a really great find, my hardy congratulations on that one. Holly COW!

Yes I have certain fondness for "jailbars". when I was a nipper it's the first v8 truck I can remember. I was suitably impressed as the local fire station had one as a hose truck.

Thank you all for the great compliments. Gibson,I spent my high school years taking up auto body instead of government. Lol. Yeah, I've been in the garage too long. Lol. I restored about 12 farm tractors, 6 jeeps, couple land cruisers, 2 corvettes, 1 bel air, 5 dump trucks, 2 backhoes, 3 forklifts, 5 skidsteers and lots of antique farm implements past 26 yrs. I need a vacation soon before the hands lock up and I can't breathe. Lol. Thanks again ford guys and the best to all your projects. Don't ever say it can't be done, just take one day at a time.

I stacked a little in my hay day till we lost all our farmers as times changed. I would say there must be around 80 bales on that truck!

We stopped in Minn. at Long Prarrie in July 1977 just in time to bring in the hay. Moose blaes his hay with 3 wires @140 lbs. When I hit my limit Moose's wife told me to drive the tractor she would finish loading the wagon. I was only 35 in 1977.

Windshield went in pretty good along with the help of dawn dish soap. The clearance lights were aftermarket units I found on eBay

When I was a kid and didn't know any better I bought a '51 MH half ton. Half ton's are really scarce. We'd get that thing on inclines where the flatty was starving for oil. The usual; wish I had it now! Nice find!

Update on my ford 4x4 marmon. I painted the bed and had time to install the front fenders, running boards, grill and hood. Gonna try and get the jail bars and headlights in next. 😀

Really looking great! I've never been in one of those trucks or even seen the mechanical details. Would love to see one some day . . . they just look really cool to me and I love the paint scheme you're using (to match your stable). Keep up the good work.

That is really looking great! Make a hell of a firewood hauler! If I didn't have so many other projects I'd grab up one of those( I know where a pickup and a 1-1/2 ton are).

Looks GREAT and the "flatbed" will really add "class" to your truck! I have a '34 pickup as well as a '37 1 1/2 ton dump that is getting close to the "finish line"..... just need more time and $$$$.

Royal,Totto & Mark. Thank u for the comp's. It's been a goal of mine to this truck and to dress it up like so for many years. I have about 750 hrs in it right now with the help of my younger brother. It's been a challenge on hunting correct replacement parts and of course having the time & $ to do this. When it's completed and I take out first ride, I'm gonna go get a steak dinner and a cold one! Today I cut, drilled and mounted all the white oak rough cut boards. It's a heavy bed! Used (9) 1 & 3/4" planks, (2) 3" beams, and 1" rack sides. Next thing To accomplish is installing the dual exhaust, installing the headliner kit, reskinned bench seat, mount the bed, rear lights and knock all the wheels to paint.
AND HOPEFULLY FINISHED!

Sweet. Great work! I have a jail bar pickup that was done when I got it. I am just working on the stuff that wasn't done right the first time!

A guy in our local club is restoring a 35 stake body. Cool trucks. Your M-H is something special.

I recall fondly driving my '51 MH from Los Angeles to Tonopah Nevada and seeing a sign that said Lone Pine 46 mi and thinking to myself, it'll take more than an hour to get there.
