I've had both good and not so good experiences with Mac's but haven't done any business with them lately... What was the problem you had with them?

I've never had any issues, even returned some stuff w/o a hassle! It was all the usual common "A" stuff though... Weren't they bought out in the last year by another company? I haven't bought anything since then....

Just sent off a $600 order last night. Shipping is ridiculous but they listed several shoebox items I couldn't find anywhere else. If you want to play, you got to pay! I appreciate the other vendors who charge actual shipping.

I have dealt with Mac's about a week ago. Parts are about the same quality. Unfortunately, a couple of major changes have occurred with Eckler's take over. The use of Ford part numbers has been abandon in favor of in-house part numbers which have no relationship to Ford numbers. The second negative change for me is the revising of shipping costs upward. Yes, I know shipping is getting expensive but rates seemed to have doubled at Mac's since earlier in the year.

Sorry Mac's. After having dealt with you for more than 20 years you are no longer my supplier of choice.

Tom

I just purchased some stuff and I'm shopping for more. The Ford part numbers are still used, at least on their website.

Never had a problem with Mac's. Not thrilled about the new part numbers but never a problem. I always go to Joe's FIRST, then C&G. Mac's been on back burner for a while. Further back now with the new part numbers.

I stopped using them because of shipping costs also. Shipping is expensive, but theirs is just obscene.

Macs can not be worse than Drakes. I ordered a pair of headlight rubbers to replace the cork gaskets.$20 $2 to make sure you get your parts and $14 shipping, and the advertizing papers and envelope weighed more than the parts. That's $20 for parts. $16 plus to get them. The bad part is you buy the parts and they add the shipping later. If i knew shipping was that much , Drake would still have the. Live and learn.

I always got a kick out of that $2 charge for "delivery guaranty" Drake charges. What a joke! Well, what a way to make a ton more money every year!
Typically packages are guaranteed to arrive through most major carriers, UPS, USPS and FedEx.
Call it what you want Bob, the $2 is a surcharge on every order...

I ordered several parts from Mac's. Two of those parts for my 48 F1 were two different brass washers for the master cylinder. Both have different sizes. When I received them there were two of the same washer. I called them and explained what I needed and the gal was very kind and said she would ship the right one to me. When it arrived it was the same one that they had already sent. I gave up and ordered one from another vendor which was the correct one I needed.

I've had pretty good luck with National Parts Depot in the past , they are not far from me and I get my parts next day and if shipping gets to bad I can just drive there. There parts seem to be the same ones everyone else has . I've bought a few parts from Macs with mixed results. There shipping has always been the reason I don't use them often.

Gentlemen,
I highly recommend Joblot Automotive in Queens Village, NY. This is real old style parts supplier not some kind of fake vendor with a fancy catalog. James knows everything about early Fords and likely will have items in the warehouse that are unlisted in their parts book. At least, he will take the time to look.
Recently I was looking for a V8 pitman arm and he sent me photos and dimensions of three choices noting which direction the holes were tapered. They ship USPS flat rate for small parts. My shipping was $5.80 and I had it in 2 days. Regardless of what suppliers tell you, USPS delivery will reach you in two days anywhere in continental USA. The reason it takes a week is because they do not process in a timely fashion.
I wish I knew about Joblot a long time ago.
Here's their contact info:
