Degreasing
I have an idea that might work OK for degreasing parts. Maybe it is not a good idea, but I think it might work, so I'll throw it out here. I was thinking getting some degreasing product like simple green, driveway degreaser (it is free after rebate at a local home improvement store right now) or similar products. Then putting the degreaser in a large pot, which I have and "cooking" the liquid with the greasy part like a timing cover or any part that would fit in the pot on a propane grill. It seems like heating the liquid would dissolve the crud/grease much faster then doing it at room temperature. Does anyone see a problem with this and think it would work well?

Re: Degreasing
do it outside over a tarp so fumes dont get to you and splash doesnt kill the grass... Also make absolutely sure whatever your heating isnt flamable. Simple green should be OK. Personally soaking parts in a tub of kerosene(cheaper) for a few days and a stiff scrub brush does wonders. Then a spraybottle of simple green and a high pressure hose takes care of the rest.
Maybe oven cleaner ive heard works but very fumey

Re: Degreasing
Heat helps everything work better. Flame or explosion takes care of the job completely.
