Wasco timing fixture.
I made a video of the Wasco timing fixture, someone on here gave me the instructions. I fitted a Pertronics unit to my car and now I dont use this often,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2EE...ature=youtu.be I found after fitting new points and a brand new cam and weights, new condenser the thing would run good for about 20 miles then need adjusting. |

Did you lube up the rubbing blocks and pivot points? I've found, once set up, these distributors run for thousands of trouble free miles. Sorry, I've never used electronic ignitions in a Ford, I wouldn't trust that stuff....

After I fitted the Pertronox the thing was amazing, starts nearly instantly and has a strong idol, and will spin the wheels more easily, runs much smother, never had the thing off since |

Re: Wasco timing fixture.
It sounds like the "new points" may have been an inferior product. Good quality points, lubed properly will last one hell of a lot longer than that.
I use points with a Velleman "Ignition amplifier" kit. It's an old school generation 1 electronic ignition that eliminates the condenser. The combo has proven very reliable for me. Mart. |

Re: Wasco timing fixture.
Sorry for thread hi-jack..
Moe, this is the kit I use. You have to solder all the components onto the printed circuit board. I then put them in a little plastic box. https://www.vellemanstore.com/en/vel...r-ignition-kit Mart. |

Re: Wasco timing fixture.
I used bob drake points and I have used used genuine points, brain suggested the Bosh condenser witch worked well, I did use Harley Davidson Sportster condensers to but they were more expensive.
I do like the pertronix unit, there is no way to tell its in there, distributor looks stock apart from condenser is gone, could even leave it in place. |
