Best source 1932 Running Board covers?

Looking to up date mine, where do I get them and how do they attach? Car is a Tudor

Jim,

All '32 running boards are the same except for a few large truck exceptions. I suspect that both Bob Drake and Vintique offer their own versions of the covers. I've used Bob's with excellent results. They are glued on with readily available rubber cement. They come with excellent instructions, but the secret is to attach only a portion at a time starting at the outer edge. You can use pieces of an old inner tube for the portion of the board that attaches underneath the chassis frame. Buy a tube of liquid black rubber at your local hardware store to fill the little holes on the bottom of the boards to duplicate the original nibs resulting from vulcanization.

Don't attempt to install the covers if you are in a hurry at that particular time as patience and persistence are required for a good result.

I have friends who have used the Drake 32 boards with the bonded covers. They have been very satisfied with the fit and detail of the boards. More money than covers , but it might be worth a look.

I have original Boards that are in pretty good condition. I try to save everything original that I can.

Sound advice.

I just installed a pair of Drake covers on some original '36 running boards and I left everything clamped down for 24 hours and still had some adhesion issues, especially on the sides where the rubber wants to pull away from the boards. That may be due to the low VOC contact cement (green can) they sell here in CA. Some Gorilla glue and another day clamped down took care of that. My friends who've used 3M or the DAP red can contact cement reported better results the first time around.

I made a handfull,of "washers" out of 5/16 or 3/8 steel tubing ( I forget), about .1 thick to put along the ends and bottom to prevent the rubber from "squishing" out when the bolts were tightened.
