The one on the left side in the skirt near the oil pan? It is the return line from the by-pass oil filter back to the oil pan.

Nice looking paint job. the PCV system is simple to hook up and work perfect. Walt

Yes, it is a nice setup, but it isn't mine. I don't like the looks of the alternators on a flathead! I run an alternator, but it is one converted by Whitney to look original.

Which specific PCV valve would you use? By that I mean from what original application?

I use an 1-1/4 grommet the fits right in the manifold hole, the PCV will fit right in the hole, you should use a PCV that's pretty close to same cubic inch has your engine, I use one that has a 90 degree on the top so the hose will lay along the intake. Walt

It will most likely blow the PCV out of the grommet if it is building up pressure and it will run poorly if it is bleeding off to much vacuum.

bleeding to much vac. means I have chosen the wrong pcv valve?
there was not much to go on for the choice, the parts guy didn't seem to know
how the cu. in. info worked.

That has been my experance, if you don't have the information there is no way the guys behind the counter will know anything. The NAPA site sometimes has a link that allows you to see all the applications for a part then you could figure out a c.i. for it.

Look up one for for a late 80's to early 90's Jeep like Walt suggested. Those motors are 242 c.i..... Mark

Don' t see how the valve in grommet would get blown out when there is an oil filler tube that gigantic!!!

Well, grommet and/or PCV, guess it depends on which is the tightest fit. If the thing is working at all there shouldn't be any crankcase pressure so nether! LOL. I would think it would take the oil filler tube being blocked to do anything and that is not likely to ever happen, so maybe just blowing oil out the filler tube. Thanks Ronnie!!!

I work on 5.0 mustangs a lot and than is an area that can be a problem is blowing the PCV and/or grommet out, but that is normally because they get old and hard, guess I was thinking more along that line. I really don't see how you could ever have a crankcase over pressure situation on the later model flatheads, so guess I was being a little facetious as well!
