Restoring the Carburetor Inlet Filter Screen
Sometimes you can remove the Carburetor Inlet Filter Screen from the carburetor with no problems and if in good condition you can reuse it.
However a lot of times the removal is not so great thus the assembly is not usable so you discard it and put in a reproduction and you are done with it. This brings up the question of restoring the original assembly. The only thing that is useable is the original nut weather it be brass or steel. The problem is finding a new screen and end assembly to insert into the original nut if the nut is in good condition without any marks on the edges. SO...where can we find just the screen and end assemblies to do this? I do not think the repro houses offer this part by itself...do they? So unless they can sell just the screen and end...I guess we are stuck with reproduction assemblies of the Carburetor Inlet Filter Screen assembly! I will contact some of the repro houses on this. Re: Restoring the Carburetor Inlet Filter Screen
He want to just replace the screen not the whole assembly. Don't recall seeing just the screen. While the screen itself would not be hard, it would be the rolled piece on the end that would take some searching to find a replacement. Or you could save and clean some old ones and just replace the screen material.
