Old stock ford pistons stamped N-STD
Have a set of 49-51 8BA pistons stamped N-STD. Curious to know what the N means.

Hmmm.....I honestly DO NOT know the answer here, BUT.....the Ford "8N" Tractor engine is a 4-cylinder of 119.66 cu. in. displacement, which coincidentally is exactly 1/2 of an 8BA (239 cu. in.) displacement. I wonder if those pistons may POSSIBLY be fit for an "8N" tractor engine? DD |

Interesting, I bought them on eBay, in a box of 8 pistons. Have not checked them out, shipped to Florida, I’m in Ct now. Were advertised as FoMoCo 8BA N- STD pistons.
Are 8N and 8BA interchangeable ? |

Re: Old stock ford pistons stamped N-STD
Like I first said, I ain't for sure on this, but here are two pictures I found of (FIRST PIC) a disassembled "8N" engine piston, and (SECOND PIC) a Disassembled "8BA" engine piston. They look pretty close to me. Also understand that I also found pictures of both "8N" and "8BA" pistons that did not have the early style BOTTOM ring. Henry wasted NOTHING, so I can see where they COULD be interchangeable. Just interesting! DD "8N" "8BA" ........ |
