Choke control on a Mercury intake
I plan to run a Rochester 2GV with the thermostatic spring on the manifold.
I do not have a choke spring that mounts on the intake. Can these be purchased new or do I have to locate an original one? |

Re: Choke control on a Mercury intake
Have never heard of any new assemblies that are available for that manifold.
Might be simpler to cap off the ports and install a manual choke.

Re: Choke control on a Mercury intake
I'd keep looking. I have done this several times with both integral and divorced chokes on Mercury manifolds. If you have the parts, it falls into place like it was designed to be. The problem with trying to use a manual choke on these is that the choke pulls backwards from what you need. Everything else falls into place if you mount the carb backwards except for the choke. Sure, you could rig up some sorta "monkey motion" setup, but the automatic choke is sure a nice feature. I have the original choke assembly hooked up as a hand throttle for our cold Minnesota mornings.

Re: Choke control on a Mercury intake
I have a steel and an aluminum cad intake both seem to have heat tubes instead of the thermostat spring. Early 50s?

They appear to be early versions that had the choke mounted on the carburetor.
