Default Need help / information

Need to know if the N series Ford tractor Starter Bendix purchased at Tractor Supply will fit a 31 Model A starter. We're sitting at a hotel broken down.

Being " broken dowm" reminds me of my high school days. Most of the time the battery in our Model A wasn't strong enough to start the engine so we either pushed it or used the crank. Most of the time we pushed. Teenage boys are resourceful!!!!!

The 8N tractor starter bendix WON'T work. the grooves in the helix run the wrong direction. Though it looks much like model A it will turn in the wrong direction.

A bad starter is not a breakdown. It is an inconveneince. Crank it or push it.

Where are you currently at?

Do you have a current MARC or MAFCA roster with you?

ALWAYS carry one or both on trips...they sure come in handy...trust me!

Thanks for the information and the help and the laughs. We're currently at a motel in Sturgis, MI. after a 310 mile drive today. The Bendix was for a gentleman travelling with me. He broke down early this morning and we push started him 3 times today. We learned resourcefulness as teenagers, over 50 years ago. We did purchase one at Tractor Supply but when we saw that it was different, we didn't even try to put it on. I then went and searched my car and almost gave up but found one in the crevice of the trunk. (I have a coupe) Appreciate all the help and hope all is going well. To all who are traveling the roads, keep the rubber side down. Drive safe and maybe we'll see you at French Lick if you're headed that way.
