Default Forged vs Pressed steel hubs...when...

When was the changeover between the Forged and Pressed Steel hubs?

It is somewhere between Start Of Production and October 1, 1928.

AND How would one distiguish one from the other?

Thanks.

I'm not sure the hubs were ever pressed steel? the brake drums were pressed steel until late '31.

Not saying that pressed hubs don't exist , I've really never heard of them . This is interesting .

Page 347 of the Service Bulletins addresses forged and pressed hubs.

Bob is correct. The difference is spelled out in the Ford Service Bulletins.

Steve asked when the change over occurred. That reference does not answer his question. The service bulletin referenced was released May of 1929 but only spells out which oil baffle and bolt to use when replacing forged with pressed steel.

I can't believe that Ford ever used pressed steel HUBS (with the term meaning ONLY the inside part of the hub/drum combo with the bearing race that is swedged to the drum).

Ford may have used forged DRUMS early in the 1928 production but switched to pressed steel quite soon. The service bulletins (at least the copy I have) start in January of 1928 and the changeover could have occurred before that.
