Central CT it's about 3.25 gal, diesel about 3.57 + or -, depending where you get it.
My mother who will be 96 this sept remembers 7 gal for $1..................except back then no one had a dollar, i can remember 5 gal/$1.

Um, not much electricity from burning oil, almost none. It's mostly coal and natural gas. Most efficient is cogeneration of electricity and steam using natural gas. Cogen units use a large jet engine to produce electricity and the 1,200F exhaust is used to produce steam.

The real deal is natural gas. @$4.00/MBtu equates to $25/bbl oil. Thanks for that to new hydraulic frac-ing technology from small energy companies like Cheasapeake and Southwestern. There is a large oversupply of natural gas.

The advantage to electric cars is they are powered(indirectly) by domestic coal which is way cheaper than oil or gas.

Okay, two more (a "million" was facetious):

Pluck, you have great Model A posts-I really enjoy learning from those. That's why I am here. Threads about gas prices, Chinese manufacturing quality, lack of knowledge/caring by auto parts store employees, or sports teams(even if you bravely cheer for mine) don't do anything to promote the goals of the Fordbarn, don't really have anyplace to go and they merely push the car related threads off the front page.

Do we feel better knowing someone's got higher gas prices than we do? Worse if their's are lower? Happy or sad if we are all in the same boat? I just don't get it.

BTW, just so you know, gasoline here is $3.17 for 87 octane. Green Bay deserved to win. And Pennsylvania is a fantastic place for antique cars (Hershey? AACA?) as well as hotrods, so saying I am from PA is by no means an insult. Peace, gentlemen.

Don't care how it comes out, but a charge-up for the Volt cost about $2.00 and good for a 100 miles..... $.02 a mile is less than I'm paying now. If gas goes to $4.50 this year will be riding my HD alot more...

If gas and Diesil prices keep climbing, I will be forced to get out the horses and mules and manually cultivate our wheat ground...not to mention the good old hoe!

Try that for size!

My frustration is how unstable the price at the pump is, due to liquid fuels being treated / traded as a commodity by the investment speculators...

Someone over the in the Middle East sneezes, and the next day the price jumps 10-15 cents at the pump here...

Oversimplified of course.

And prices never come down as fast as they go up...

I think Wisconsin has gone back to horses. I pulled off the interstate and into a gas station to check my map. As I was leaving to drive the back roads, instead of a stop sign it looked the same, but said "WHOA". On the way home if I can find it again I'll have to take a picture of it.

Here in Smithtown, Long Island, NY, the least expensive gas is $3.30/gal for regular. The average is about 10 to 15 cents higher per gallon.
