Default front shock kit for 48

I'm looking at putting tube shocks on the front of my car. There are already tubes on the rear. The old lever ones are pretty well knackered.

Anyone have experience with the tube kit sold by C&G part number 11A-18124-KIT. I see it comes with a new perch bolt. Can the existing perch bolt be used as the shock link for the old lever shock goes through it or will the hole not take the bolt/stud for the replacement shock?

thanks

GB

Cool hand... and is that through the stock perch bolt?

I know the kit supplies a replacement perch bolt ( perhaps for other applications) just I don't want to change my stock one out if I don't have to as they are a bear to get out after being in there for damn near 70 years.

Yup. That is where the original lever shock link attached, like 'flathead48' mentioned.

I went on C and G‘s website did not see the kit. I’m getting ready to do the same thing on a 47. I would like to use the existing shock mount on the perch pin, and not drill hole in the axle.
I am using 1948 style upper shock mounts that bolt into the original Houdaille shock holes.
But I need the bottom mount.

In an effort to improve the ride I installed 70/30 shocks from a mid size 70's GM car. shock is longer and has the single point vertical mount used on modern cars,. Definite improvement in ride quality.
