Default spark plug connector pictures

I am never going to show this car so I should have bought the first years series of plug connectors instead of the offset ones for my '31. But since I have a '31 this is what I ordered and I don't know why or which orientation the offset goes, the early ones were a no brainer, straight. I know it does not matter if not shown I guess but if I am to install them I guess I would like to do them correctly. Must be some reason Ford changed to this.

I never thought about that. I'm so anal I'm going to have to go out and check now!

I heard Ford cut them that way to cut costs, less scrap.

37Coupe, I note you say you will never show this car. Mine are the same so I take measures to avoid the (in)famous Model A cross fire. I do one of two things: Either I extend the lead on #3 so that it sits further from the distributor body or I slit a piece of plastic tubing and slip it over #3 lead.
If the cross fire happens to you, it can take finding unless you are aware. I'd rather prevent it happening.

FYI, 'B' leads are longer so they are further away from the body when installed on the 'A' I put shrink tubing over mine "Just in case".

So the reason for the change in 1930 was to eliminate cross firing between the connectors?

If the later ones are longer, that may be the reason. When I lengthen them, I add about 10 mm (3/8")

I would wager they never had a thought about the direction of the offset at the factory especially close to shift change!

I would position them so they are farthest away from each other...

The "B" leads are longer because the distributor is a bit taller due to the advance mechanism inside.
