Austrailan Lew Bandt ? invented the Ford Ute. I think he might have died as a result of pranging a 34 one he owned...someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Also the 46/48 Coupes that are RHD would have probably been imported from New Zealand as FOMOCO Australia didn't make them but they made some interesting local bodies such as coupe utes, roadster utes convertables you would not see in the US. Even 32/34 Seds and cpes had more wood content and different profiles to their US counterparts.

Any one notice the English V* Pilot hiding behind the 52 Peppermint Ford?

Manuel, Australia made the fordor sedans both Ford & Mercury, also the coupe utility & commercial cabs but a different tray to that made in Nth america. These were all stamped in Australia but not too sure about fenders & bonnets/hoods
New Zealand assembled the Nth american fordors, business coupe & clubman coupe, [ 'sedan coupe'] & the commercial cabs & box. Delivery bodies were fabricated here from the doors back & look similar to US type. A very few convertibles may have come in also.
Ford Australia actually did import some 'woodies' during the War for the Armed Forces as the govt. ban on fully imported cars into Australia did not seem to be in force then.

The Australian 1954 Ford's and Mercury's were still flathead models. The OHV V-8 was not introduced until 1955. In fact the 1954 Ford dashboard was the same as the 1953.

If you mean roadster by no wind up windows but side curtains... I'm pretty certain there was a 39 roadster. I remember seeing a picture on one in Aussie "Restored Cars" magazine years ago. I think they were a "decapitated" version of the 37/38 long door club coupes as produced in the US.

further to above these had a rear seat so it didn't have the sleek long deck like the US one, probably not a true roadster but it did have side curtains.
