Default Zenith 2 mystery

The fuel in the bowl, at 5/8 " from gasket surface, wicks up to the gasket surface and floods over to the outside of the bowl. Has anyone ever experienced this situation? Is there a sealer suitable for the inside of the float bowl? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you very much in advance!!!
Don

where do you see the leak occurring? hard to believe gas would wick between the two castings through the gasket. The assembly bolt must not be tight, or, the mating surfaces of the two castings are not flat.

Sounds like the casting may be cracked, or porous.
Try soapy water and some air in the fuel inlet with the gaskets in place and the carb bolted together.
Also make sure the gasket surface between the top and the bottom castings are flat.
The threads of the gas inlet may also be bad, or the mating surface is damaged.

The fuel inlet valve may be leaking slightly allowing the fuel level in the bowl to reach the gasket between the 2 pieces.

If that were the case it would be leaking out the jet before it reached the rim.

Some of the repo bowl gaskets were too thin and caused the carb to leak. I had that problem and replaced the bowl gasket and it solved my problem.

I have the bowl separate from the top and held in a vise.
The gas wicks up the inside and overflows to the outside. I have this experience with two separate bowls.

I have seen a crack in the casting on the bowl side where the main bolt is.
Also in the area between the secondary well and the main bolt.
Have your castings been treated with a derusting solution?
Difficult for me to reason out your wicking problem.

Are you sure the gas comes from inside the bowl? Could it be leaking where the inlet pipe goes into the carb. I have had this happen and the gas flows around the gasket between the bowls and it looks like it is coming from inside.

Someone within the last year had the exact same problem including holding it in a vice.
