i never start my car while stepping on the clutch, i always let the oil circulate before stepping on the clutch

If that is your trouble, a machine shop is usually needed to rebuild the thrust surface. A bronze thrust surface can be purchased from the different suppliers. It fits into the block.

I vote for piston slap! Rod knocking would not go away and would be more pronounced under load!
