Default Sediment bowl interchangeable?

Can the cast iron sediment be replaced with the later style glass? Can it be simply swapped ?

Yes, same attachment. Direct interchange.

Save what you can of the cast iron version - DON'T THROW AWAY.

The cast iron ones were reproduced for a very short time back in the 1980s. Since then - NOTHING - except you can buy the parts. One assumes a lawsuit or something is keeping these off the market.

Consequently many are doing what they can to keep the cast iron ones going, including reaming them out - connecting the inlet and outlet - and putting them on the firewall "for appearance" - and relying on an in- tank filter - or the filter add-on to the Zenith Carb.

Even the nut holding the cast iron one to the firewall is of interest. Its bigger/heavier than the usual nut - many use the nut instead of counting on the pal-nut that many of the aluminum filters come with as standard.

I prefer the cast iron sediment bowl and have never had a problem with them . I really don't have to see trash in the glass bowl to know that the bowl needs cleaning from time to time . I believe that Ford changed back to the cast iron bowl in 1931 . If for no other reason , I prefer the look of the cast iron bulb !!!
