Default First startup and drive

First off I'd like to thank everyone thats helped me get to this momentous point!

This is the 2nd time the engine has been started but not since 2009. Ive just been putting oil in he cyl every few months and turning it by hand to keep it freed up. Thats where the small blue cloud came from at first startup and the misfiring at first. I was amazed at how quick it fired up. Rest of the smoke is paint burning off the exhaust...

This is the first time the frame has moved under its own power since the early 1950's. Its not the best frame (pits) but its solid. I think my Great Grandfather would approve.

towards the end you can see the radiator was finding its happy level spot. Once it cooled it was above the top of the tubes where its supposed to be.

I do need to set the carb idle in a little, threatened to die when I moved the lever all the way up.

Now I'm sure while it was driving you can hear either the transmission or gearbox making noise - I'm not sure whats causing that and the bearings checked out great and the teeth looked good... Will have to get things adjusted and take it for another spin to pinpoint that better.

Sorry for the wind and the cicadas....

Great rig. Seems to run really well. But give the throw out bearing a break. Don't mean to be critical but they are time consuming to change.

Great to see! I'm not to far away from that with mine, although I have put the body on mine, but I'm chicken I guess.

yea then I got a call later and asked where it went - forgot to bring it back in the house in the kitchen haha. Speaking of - do they go bad? that one is probably 30 years old... gauge says full or good but Ive heard the powder can get compacted and still say good when its really useless.

I was also wearing the gloves in the video for 2 reasons: 1 is the original steering wheel for my truck has missing chunks and the remaining chunks are sharp and 2 is if I have to yank the battery cable off in one of those "oh s***" moments it may be hot...

storing it once the cab is on may get tricky... from what other peoples measurements of their AA's ill have 1" of clearance between the garage opening and the top of the cab...

I understand what you mean Mitch about supporting the steering column but would you have any pics of how you did it?

yea it makes you stand back in bewilderment thinking that every one of those components Ive had down to its bare nuts bolts and castings at one point. (thankfully I hope I never have to tear into a worm drive rearend again in my lifetime!!! 2.5 is enough!!!)Yes like everyone else Ive done a handful of 2 steps forward 1 step back (like how I somehow managed to inspect, sandblast, and restore 2 left rear brake backing plates...) or shoulda bought the better leak proof trans shafts with O rings the first go around... so yea word of advice buy the best the first go around especially on those parts that are NOT easy to get to!!!
