wire wheel colors
My 26 model T has wheels that are light yellow in color. Was this any kind of original color for the wheels or did someone in the past paint them yellow? If this is an original color for the wheels, what is the color called or formula?
I'd like to repaint them and get the right color. donQ |

Re: wire wheel colors
Your yellow wheels are likely the optional Straw colour.
Ditzler 526 This was used on Model A Fords as well. It should be available pre-mixed from Snyder's or Lang's. The following is from the MTFCA encyclopedia WIRE WHEEL COLORS (Late 1926, and 1927) Casino Red, Emerald Green, Straw, Drake Green (1927) and Black. In late 1926 when wire wheels became standard on the closed cars (but not all at the same time), the standard wire wheel color was black. Colored wheels were special order or dealer-installed.
